I am a senior at Kansas State University, and for the last three years I have been working towards completing my degree in Apparel and Textiles with a specialization in Design and Production. Throughout the last couple of years I have had some amazing opportunities to expand my knowledge in the industry. Last year I studied abroad in Florence, Italy. It was a truly amazing experience, in which I was able to visit local artisan shops and go on industry visits around the city. I took classes in trend forecasting, as well as fabric styling and art history. I was able to leave my comfort zone and learn so much about myself and the rest of the word during those months. This past summer I interned for a local bridal designer, called Vanya Designs. We created custom bridal gowns from scratch as well as reconstruct old family gowns to give brides their perfect look. Currently I am working in retail at a bridal and evening wear shop called Celebrations of the Heart, where I assist customers with finding the perfect dress for their big event.

 

When it comes to my work, an elegant aesthetic has shaped my designs, which are simple in nature with intricate details. I use sophisticated lines with organic movement, my garments featuring some retro flair. I aspire to showcase my ideas in a creative position, designing womens wear with a focus on evening wear. I find inspiration in the women around me, whose confident and feminine style I try to mimic in my designs. My classic style encompasses the everyday woman’s look, that can be used throughout almost all categories, preferably between moderate and designer.
